Do you believe books find people exactly when they're meant to?
Have you ever read a book that came to you at just the right moment in life, when you needed it most?
On the flip side, are there some books you read that you wish you'd found sooner?
For my part, I've come across a number of children's or YA classics as an adult that I regret not reading when I was the "target" audience. I still enjoyed them immensely as an adult, but I think about how much more magical it might've been if I read it when I was around the age of the characters in the story.
One such example is the Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace. Somehow I completely missed this sweet series growing up! If I have daughters, I want to make sure these books get into their hands!
For a book that did come to me at the right time, I would cite Jane Eyre. I "found" it in my mid teens, and it opened up a new world of adult reading and of my now beloved British classics. It paved the way for what I studied in college, and in some ways, for this very blog!
I think that you find books on your own for the first time. Maybe your guided by fate towards a specific style, but it's mainly your own taste. The second time however, is when i believe that the book finds you. When you've forgotten who you really are or when you are going through a trial I think that the perfect book comes back to remind you of all that life can be.
